Update

Quick update on my "busy but exciting times" post from September...

TUCKAHOE:
School is still going strong.  I have two very energetic classes full of eager learners.  They are sweet students and never cease to amaze me.  They are such fun 5th graders to teach and I'm loving my role as their teacher!

VCU CLASSES:
My grad. school class this fall isn't too hard (yet!) ... Keep your fingers crossed it stays that way! :)

BIBLE STUDY:
We're studying Hebrews in my home group.  This has been a challenge for me but I am continuing to learn a lot.  And I really, really enjoy the girls in my Bible study... I can't wait to continue to get to know them as we study God's word and fellowship with one another.

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY:
Financial peace class is going well... so far, here are some changes I've made:  I've set up an envelope system, I've checked out my credit score (it's free to look at it once a year!), I've switched from Virginia Commonwealth Bank to Bank of America, I've set up automatic withdrawals from my checking account for my mutual fund and my savings account, I'm working on paying off my credit card bill, and I've purchased an awesome polka-dotted piggy bank for my spare change.  I'm excited about these changes!

SOFTBALL:
Kev's softball games end this week... Sadly, most of them have been the late games so I've actually only gone to watch them play once.  They are in the playoffs this weekend so I'll cheer them on.  Hopefully the weather will be sunny so I can get a tan in the meantime, ha!

WIFFLEBALL:
Wiffleball has been a BLAST!  I'm so bad at it and I certainly put the "wiff" in wiffleball (who knew you could miss the ball with such a big, fat bat?!!), but it's been very fun to do this with Kev.  He, on the other hand, is quite a stud out on the field.  He's a great athlete and has a lot of patience with me!  So far though, I've scored once and gotten two people out.  This isn't great but hey, I've got to look at the positives in the  midst of my not-so-good wiffleball skills. :)

READING:
"The Shack"  was SUCH a great book... very thought-provoking.  I recommend it!  Also, if you haven't read "The Help," read that!  It's another great book!  Right now, I'm reading "Firefly Lane."  It's a fun, easy read that I get excited to read at night before going to sleep.

Have a great week!

  1. Hi Becky! Looks like you've been busy. Financial Peace University is truly worth it--my husband and I absolutely love Dave Ramsey! I'm so glad you're checking this out.

BTW Thanks for all the baby encouragement through facebook. I'll hopefully be able to post pictures of this little one soon :)
